Market Life: Art Beat Somerville, July 14, 2018

Market Life is a series of photo posts documenting the hard working Makers at the arts markets of New England.

Art Beat Somerville is an annual festival that takes place in Davis Square in Somerville, Massachusetts. Somerville is one of the most supportive cities for artists and makers in the region and this event is produced by the Somerville Arts Council. It is a huge and well known event, but this was actually our first year participating with our company Rusty and Ingrid. To be honest, the main reason we hadn't done the event yet was because of their archaic snail mail vendor applications and because we hadn't made a Somerville design yet. Well, this year we finally finished the app on time, and then we dug in and after a week of late nights, created our first Somerville screen print design in four sizes (which we are really happy with, by the way!) It really paid off—the event was one of our best shows to date, and super fun.

Check out the pictures. Somerville is a wild place, and Art Beat just about sums it up. Our favorite thing was the School of HONK! marching band which got everyone dancing in the streets.
